The cellulite aisle is full of creams. Colombian spas reach for wood.

Twelve beech wheels, four zones, ten minutes. What wood therapy actually is — and why the tool now sells without the appointment.

A curved wooden roller
One curve, four zones. The tool a wood therapy session is built around.

Walk the aisle and count what’s on it: firming creams, coffee scrubs, clay wraps, dry brushes, silicone cups, caffeine serums, retinol serums. Come back in six months and the labels will have changed. The shelf won’t.

Cellulite is normal. Most women have it. What isn’t normal is a whole aisle built on the idea that it shouldn’t be there.

What the spas reach for instead

In Colombian spas in the nineties, therapists put the creams down and picked up wood. Rollers, cups, boards — one shape for each part of the body. They called it maderoterapia.

It spread. Today it’s a spa staple across Latin America and it’s on the menu of hundreds of American spas, where one session runs $90 to $120 — and where nobody sells you one session. They sell the package: eight to ten, $250 to $600, booked in advance, used on their schedule.

One home tutorial alone has 2.8 million views. Which tells you what a lot of people decided: learn the movement, skip the package.

What the tool actually is

Strip away the room, the music and the receptionist, and a wood therapy session is built around one object: a curved wooden roller.

Ours is called Curva. Twelve beech wheels on a metal axle, a turned handle at each end, and a curve that follows a thigh, a hip, a calf or an arm.

No motor, no battery, no charging cable. You hold it, you roll, and you decide how firm it gets.

The four-zone pass

Everything in a session comes down to one sequence. We call it the four-zone pass: calves, back of thigh, outer thigh and hip, arms. One pass each, slow, at a pressure you choose. Ten minutes, start to finish.

That’s the whole method. It isn’t a secret, and you don’t need us to do it.

The routine, step by step

1

Calves — 2 min. Sit, foot flat on the floor. Roll from ankle to knee in long, slow passes. Eight to ten each leg. Light to start.

2

Back of thigh — 2 min. Still seated. From just above the back of the knee, up. Same slow passes.

3

Outer thigh and hip — 3 min. Stand, or sit sideways. Follow the curve of the roller up the outside of the leg, knee to hip.

4

Arms — 2 min. Forearm flat on a table. Wrist to elbow, then elbow to shoulder.

Three rules. Never roll over bone. Start lighter than you think. Skip anything that hurts, and any area where the skin is sore or broken.

Where we stand

We sell the roller, so here is the line we hold to: Curva is a massage tool, not a treatment for cellulite. Ten minutes, a firm roll, a pressure you choose. That is what we promise, and that is all we promise.
A hand rolling along a forearm
Pressure is the part nobody warns you about. At home, it’s yours to set.

Why most rollers end up in a drawer

You can do that routine with any wooden roller. Most people don’t — they buy a ten-dollar one, it arrives with nothing, and it goes in a drawer.

Not because they’re bad. Because they arrive with no routine, no idea how hard to press or where to start. A tool you don’t know how to use is a tool you stop using.

Curva arrives with the four-zone pass filmed, zone by zone, at the pressure to start with. Same routine as above, shown instead of described.

A session ends when the hour does. A roller doesn’t.

Lights low. Phone face down. Ten minutes that are yours, on your sofa, on no one’s schedule.

Arrived in just 8 days, a week earlier than expected. Smooth surface, the metal part is strong and doesn't bend. The massage is great for tired legs.

It looks good. Not super flexible, but the curve is nice and it feels pretty sturdy.

Curva is a massage tool, not a treatment for cellulite.

There’s nothing to wait for

You can’t decide this from a page. Nobody can. That’s the whole reason the 30 nights exist: you decide with the roller in your hand, on your own sofa, after four or five evenings — not from a paragraph.

Waiting doesn’t make the decision easier. It just moves it. And the evening you would have used it tonight doesn’t come back.

Four questions

Will it help with cellulite? It’s a massage tool. Cellulite is normal — most women have it — and this isn’t a treatment for it. Roll it because it feels good.

Does it hurt? Only if you make it. You set the pressure — start light and stay there if you like.

What is it made of? Beech wheels on a metal axle, two turned handles.

How long does delivery take? It ships the next morning and arrives around Tuesday, September 29.
